In 2005, Sender’s Peter Mortimer teamed up with climbing film pioneer Josh Lowell, from Big Up Productions, to launch the Reel Rock Film Tour. Now going into its 16th season, Reel Rock has grown into climbing’s biggest global platform, with hundreds of millions of impressions across tour events, virtual premieres, digital downloads, TV series, YouTube channel, and social media.  

ICONIC CLIMBING FILMS

Each year, we produce a new crop of Reel Rock films, balancing cutting-edge action with deeply human storytelling, humor, heart, and whimsy. Our films have introduced a generation of climbing stars, including Alex Honnold, Ueli Steck, Chris Sharma, Ashima Shiraishi, Margo Hayes, and many more. Breakout Reel Rock films like Black Ice, United States of Joe’s, Dodo’s Delight and A Line Across The Sky have earned over a hundred festival awards and are revered as touchstones in the culture of climbing.

BLOWOUT SCREENINGS

The films premiere at festive Reel Rock Tour events, with athlete appearances, gear giveaways, sponsor activations, community fundraisers, after parties, and anything else our grassroots local partners can dream up and bring to life. From 1,500 seat theaters in Boulder, San Francisco, and Paris, to scruffy gyms in Kansas or Kathmandu, and even McMurdo Research Station in Antarctica, we now roll out over 800 live screenings every year, reaching hundreds of thousands of fans. 

REEL ROCK’S DIGITAL UNIVERSE

In 2020, during the COVID-19 crisis, we launched RR15 with a Global Online Premiere, bringing our community together in a whole new way. These virtual events, along with digital download sales and rentals, connect us with audiences around the world. We also deliver each crop of films as part of the Reel Rock TV series, which runs on the RedBull.tv streaming platform. Our Reel Rock YouTube Channel is a showcase for core climbing action and short-form stories, with 30 million video views and counting. And our 300,000 followers between Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter are kept in the loop with highlights from our 20-year archive and updates from the field.
